The test for maximum tensile strength and elongation at maximum force using the strip tensile test method determines the tensile strength and tensile elongation of fabrics in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1394-1. In addition to giving a declaration of the maximum forces that can be exerted on the fabric, it also provides very complex declarations of the behaviour of the material in relation to strength, stretch and elasticity.

Specifically, fabrics that must prove sufficient tensile strength due to their field of application are tested. For example, this would include shirts and blouses, upholstery fabrics for furniture, tents, belts and ropes.
