Webcast Heavy metals

Heavy metals can occur due to manufacture and textile finishing, or due to printing of textiles and accessories, for example, buttons or zip fasteners.

Some heavy metals, for example, lead or arsenic, are known to be harmful to health, however others are allergenic, as is the case with metallic nickel.

According to the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, there are two types of test for heavy metals: the test for content of extractable heavy metals and the determination of the total metal content.
